The Bombay Howrah Dining Car celebrates our passion for food and cooking and aims to introduce people to the cuisines we grew up with in India.

Aniruddha and I grew up in Mumbai but belong to different communities. He is a Bengali, while I am a Maharashtrian. The Bombay Howrah Mail (now the Mumbai Howrah Mail) turned out to be a common childhood link for us. I traveled on the train to Nagpur to visit my paternal grandparents, while Aniruddha and his family would travel all the way to Kolkata. Surprisingly we never met on the train 🙂

We love traveling and discovering new cuisines and many of these flavours find their way back into our kitchen. But the Marathi and Bengali food we grew up with still remains our favourite. But we also fondly remember other cuisines we enjoyed eating in both cities – Parsi, Gujarati, Mughlai and Tangra Chinese as well of course the amazing street food! Through the Bombay Howrah Dining Car we want to introduce these flavours to you and help you gain a deeper appreciation for regional Indian cuisines.
